Free yourself of the unconscious patterns that bind you.

  • Therapy

If you, your couple, or your family have decided therapy may be a good resource to help you move through life’s difficulties, we can help you.

  • Supportive co-therapy

If your loved one is working with a Conscious Living therapist, you may want to learn and grow with them. Supportive co-therapy can help.

  • Groups

If you are seeking a shared space to help you face your struggles with disordered eating, body image, parenting, and more, we may have a group that fits your needs.

Our Approach to therapy

We approach problems with curiosity, as opportunities for integration on your healing journey. By exploring your history and the challenges you currently face, together we can bring hidden beliefs, feelings, and reactionary patterns of behavior to your conscious awareness, giving you the power to create lasting change. Through this process we may shine a light on all parts of you, even those in the shadows, and discover what they need to adapt and function successfully as a whole. Committing to your own healing is one of the most generous things you can do for yourself and those around you. Living consciously allows you to love openly, respond carefully, and give freely.

  • Trauma

Anything that has happened to you that you have not been able to digest and process may have left you with brain-body disturbance that can be experienced as distressing and uncomfortable symptoms. Whether you know what has left you feeling this way or not, we can help you identify and process whatever may be stuck.

  • Family conflict

We work with family members struggling to understand one another, leading to ongoing frustration, tension, and mistrust. We offer 1:1 counseling for people wanting to process their individual experiences as part of a family, and we offer family therapy or co-therapy for families — children and parents, siblings, co-parents, etc. — wanting a combination of independent and collaborative support.

  • Relationship Support

The problems you are fighting about are rarely the source of your misunderstanding. The real problem often goes deeper, reflecting unconscious defenses that can be difficult to understand, let alone explain or work through without support. These reflexive emotional responses are often learned in our family of origin but misplaced in our adult relationships. Combining awareness of yourself and your partner, self care, and mutual support can free your relationship from the burden of unconscious patterns.

  • Depression & Anxiety

Depression and anxiety are deeply challenging emotional states, especially when you feel no relief. We offer counseling to help you understand patterns of thought, feeling, and behavior that may be keeping you stuck. We also work with people who experience extremes of emotion and may be struggling to find a sense of balance.

  • Psychodynamic Executive development

Mary Bernuth uses her decades of professional experience prior to becoming a therapist to help senior level professionals and executives understand the unconscious road blocks disrupting your professional success or satisfaction. Mary can help you uncover the psychological and emotional patterns that often occur in highly stressful work situations. She can also help you improve your interpersonal relationships within the corporate environment by developing awareness of how you and those around you react to challenging circumstances. Mary specializes in working with those moving from mid-level management to senior-level management and entrepreneurs who are wanting to scale their companies.

  • Spiritual Counseling

We can help you explore your spirituality as a means of healing from religious trauma, finding your soul’s purpose, or unearthing spiritual messages that may help guide you through challenging chapters of life.

  • Chronic Illness & Medical trauma

When you experience a serious health crisis, your body becomes the focus of care. Your spirit, mind, and emotional world may begin to feel neglected through this process. We offer counseling to help you experience a different relationship between your body, mind, and spirit based on your unique goals. Whatever your goals may be, we can help you experience autonomy from and reconnection with a body that is hurting or healing.

  • Sexual Intimacy

Sensuality is an important part of wellness, as individuals and in relationships. We offer counseling to help you process a sense of imbalance in your sexual feelings, drives, and behaviors. We work with people experiencing uncontrolled sexual impulses and those struggling to experience their sensuality fully.

  • Teenage life

The time between childhood and adulthood is full of changes and challenges. Identities are forming, school can become more difficult, the future is looming, and relationships with friends, love interests, and family members are changing. Teenagers today are also growing up in unique circumstances that adults may struggle to understand. We offer counseling to help you understand why life feels hard and what you can do to make it a little bit easier.

  • Grief & Loss

Grief is a deeply personal emotional journey, unique to all who experience it. As painful as it can be, our grief is also sacred, for it is where we find connection with the people and things we have lost. Sometimes the process of grieving can become stuck, leaving us feeling stuck with it. We offer therapy to help you honor your grief and take the time to truly experience your loss before moving forward in a way that works for you.

  • Life Transitions

Moving from one life chapter to another can be a complex and challenging experience, even if the transition is for the best. Whether you have already started a transition or feel as though you may be on the brink of one, we can help you honor your fear, anxiety, or grief while still moving forward.

  • Identity Exploration

The ability to live an authentic, joyful life is inherent to being human, but can be made difficult by the demands of our culture and life experiences. We all need to work to understand and appreciate ourselves. We can help you get to know you, developing self-compassion and self-confidence along the way.
